“Following The Hoofprints” is Charlie’s first book, published in June 2014 by The Autism Directory charity, and available on Amazon worldwide.

This book tells the true story of how a once struggling horse called Oscar rose from the ashes and saved Charlie Avent from suicide. Oscar helped him to learn how to be a part of the human race despite his teaching and educational difficulties, even after Oscar himself had had a hard time as a foal. This book is the first time Charlie has ever properly spoken about all his feelings and thoughts on Autism and horses on paper and he really hopes you enjoy reading it as much as he enjoyed writing it.

Heartwarming tearjerking read: One of the most heartwarming tearjerking books I’ve read in a very long time the ability to overcome autism and face it head on to become a writer about horse whispering is incredible the fight to be free of bully’s and put the gift charlie had to use by communicating with horses is incredible a true heartwarming read well done looking forward to the next book….

Charming, funny, shocking, heartwarming and enlightening. A must read for anyone caring for an autistic person: This book is, by turns, charming, funny, shocking and heart warming but, most importantly, enlightening. Charlie is an amazing and remarkable person able to show us how the world looks from the standpoint of someone with Autism. This book is incredibly readable and unputdownable (I am not sure that is a word but you know what I mean!). It took me just a couple of days. This book has to be a must-read for anyone caring for, or working with, an autistic person.

Read – be moved and challenged:  A truly inspiring book. Be warned, it will bring you to tears!

A great read for anyone who loves or works with horses… : A really great read for anyone who loves or works with horses or young people with Autism. Really thought provoking and insightful, a truly inspiring story.

Essential reading for everyone: It is not very often that people who are affected by autism are able to fully explain and express what it can be like from the inside. That is yet another gift that this remarkable young man has. This book provides an opportunity for all of us learn and understand and would comfort many individuals and families as well as any who are teaching, caring or living with people who autistic in any form.

Heartwarming and sincere: This is written from the heart. I read it as though Charlie was actually telling me the story himself. Heart warming and sincere. A lovely book which I can highly recommend
